7 – 8 am Registratio n and Continental Breakfast
8 – 9 am “Clinical Decis ion Making for the Therapeutic Management of Pain”
J ane Fedorcyck, PT, PhD
This evidence informed presentation w ill focus on the examination of a patient’s perception of pain to determine primary and/or secondary sources of pain mediation. Accurate and thorough assessment of pain will allow the therapists to select the most appropriate options for pain management to restore function and maximizing patient out comes. The reliance of therapeutic interventions to reduce the use of opioi ds will be emphasized.
9 – 10:30 am “A Comprehensive Review o f Finger Fractures and Dislocations” – Physician/Therapist Presentation Dr. Gregory Kolovich and Bob Phillips, OTR/L CHT
10:30 – 10:45 am Break
10:45 – 12:30 pm “Abysmal Condition s and Treatment Options” Physican/Therapist Presentation Dr. Robert Hoffman , Dr. Ronald Levitt, Alison Walmsley, OTR/L, CHT
This presen tation will focus on various difficult diagnoses, surgery and the rehabilit ation sequelae of the upper extremity. From clavicle fractures to internal elbow hinges and gunshot wounds, you are certain to take away an educationa l pearl or two. These abysmal conditions are injuries will provide a dynami c discussion of how to manage these patients to create optimal outcomes
12:30 – 1:30 pm Lunch provided. Networking time with Exhibitors< /strong>
1:30 – 4:45 pm Instructional Sessions (each particip ant will rotate through each workshop as directed)
W orkshop A: Orthosis workshop – Gary Solomon, OTR/L, CHT
Workshop C: Joint Mobili zation – Alison Taylor, OTR/L CHT
Mobilization to correct jo int alignment in the upper extremity can be complicated and daunting. This one-hour session will demonstrate simple mobilization techniques for the sh oulder, elbow and wrist and fingers. These applications will result in impr oved ROM and pain relief- guaranteed!
The concepts joint alignment “s etting” with isometrics, taping and dynamic strengthening with be discussed and participants will leave with new skills to use immediately.
3:45 – 4:45pm Return to last rotational session

9:30 – 9:45am Break
9:45 – 11:15 am. “The Elbow: Managing the Clinical Sequalae of Traumatic Elbow Injuries” Jane Fedorcyck, PT, PhD
For thi s presentation, traumatic elbow injuries are defined as fractures and /or d islocations affecting the articulations of the elbow complex. The common co nditions that may occur as a result of a traumatic elbow will be addressed including joint stiffness, nerve injury and instability. Recommendations fo r evidence informed therapist’s examination and treatment will be discussed and reinforced through case examples.
11:15 am – 12:15pm “Pa ige’s Pearls: Tips and Tricks to Enhance Your Practice” Paige Kurtz, MS, OT R/L CHT

12:15 – 1:30 pm Lunch provided Hanger lunch and Learn in Auditorium.
1:30 – 3:00 pm Concurrent Sessions
Session A: “Testing for Differential Diagno ses” Hands On Instruction Robert Medcalf, PT Dip MDT
Session B: “Upper Extremity Neural Pathway Mobilization” Hands On Instruct ion Andreas Mueller, PT, CFMT
Patients presenting with UE pa in often develop increased sensitivity of the neural system which can be id entified using the Upper Limb tension Test (ULTT). In patients with adverse neural tension, myofascial restrictions can be palpated along the nerve pa thway. This presentation will demonstrate manual soft tissue mobilization t echniques to perform along the upper extremity neural pathways to improve m obility as assessed with the ULTT.
3:00 – 3:15 Break
3:15 – 4:45 Concurrent Sessions
Sessi on C: “Hand Anatomy Tutorial” Hands On Instructional Course Sherri Roberts, OTR/L, CHT
Come relax and enjoy drawing the anatomical stru ctures of the hand. This basic to intermediate tutorial provides step by st ep guidance on how to draw and identify key structures in the hand. Partici pants will be given real time instruction and are provided a 3 – dimensiona l hand for practice and to take home. 65 participants only.
S ession D: “MEM: A Helping Hand for Swelling Management” Instructional and H ands On Sandy Sublett, PT, DPT, OCS, CLT
Edema management is an everyday occurrence for hand therapists. Understanding the lymphatic sy stem’s role in fluid homeostasis and interstitial protein removal is essent ial for effective swelling reduction. This class will give an overview of M EM, with a brief look at important lymphatic anatomy and physiology. Partic ipants will be able to try two unique uses of tape for finger swelling and scar mobilization.
