Description: Do you wonder where the time goes during the evaluation pe riod and you did not assess an impairment critical to a patient’s dia gnosis and ability to function? Would knowing lesion site and the affected anatomical structures clue you into performing key assessments and priorit izing treatment interventions? If so, your patients would have a better-dev eloped and precise plan of care to address impairments, thus leading to a r estoration of movement or compensation strategy to safely function in the e nvironment. The purpose of this course is to review neuroanatomy as it rel ates to rehabilitation for occupational and physical therapy practice. A va riety of impairments as related to anatomical lesion sites will be discusse d via the use of research studies and or case reports. Treatment intervent ions based on instructor’s experience, evidence-based practice and pa rticipants’ suggestions will be offered as options for patient care. The World Health Organization (WHO) International Classification of Fun ctioning, Disability and Health (ICF) will be used as a framework for case study delivery of care in neurorehabilitation, demonstrating assessmen t of and treatment for impairments and functional outcomes achieved.
